Fraser Valley Malayalee Association (FVMA) successfully hosted the 7th edition of its Annual Cricket Tournament on June 29, 2025, at Silverdale Park, Mission, BC. The event brought together eight competitive teams from across British Columbia, transforming the park into a vibrant stage of athleticism, teamwork, and community spirit.
For many within the Malayalee community, cricket has always been an important part of growing up — a game that transcends boundaries and brings people together through shared enthusiasm and friendship. The 2025 tournament embodied that spirit, with matches marked by excitement, fair play, and genuine camaraderie both on and off the field.
The tournament was coordinated by Rony Jose, Joint Secretary – Sports, with the invaluable support of FVMA members and volunteers. Their efforts ensured the smooth organization of every aspect of the event, from scheduling to officiating. After an intense day of competition, Vancity United emerged as the champions, while Okanagan United finished as runners-up in a thrilling final match that showcased exceptional talent and teamwork.
FVMA President Linto Luka commended the teams for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship, emphasizing how the tournament continues to strengthen community bonds and foster a spirit of unity.
The FVMA Cricket Tournament stands as a cornerstone of the association’s annual calendar — a celebration of athleticism, friendship, and the enduring love for the game that unites Malayalees across the Fraser Valley and beyond.
